I've been thinking a lot about how certain times of my life are reflected in photos.
I look at something like this and feel it represents my life in some small way. This photo was taken after a normal 10 hour day of construction in the hot sun when my car broke down on the way home. Although I was pissed at the time I'm really glad I have this now.
I look at pictures from past trips I've been on as well and feel the same way. It maybe from a miserable day where I felt sick and tired of being away from home but in photos you never really remember the bad times. I've never been one for smiling in photos (or at all for that matter) I think I just like to stay to myself and reflect on what is going on at the time. I've had some amazing experiences on the road and hope for a lot more. We'll see what this year brings.

Yesterday I had my first day of skateboarding of the season. It was a bit less perfect then I might have wanted it to be (Much Music filming a commercial at the Hoof/Cold weather) but it felt good to be back on the road and the boards with the homies.

I have been in Dubai for just over two weeks now. Things have been pretty up and down on this trip so far. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing new places and things. It is just getting a bit much to handle lately since this was supposed to be a stop over on the way to India.
Anyway, long story short India is being pushed back for the 3rd or 4th time and Cale and I are going to head home in the next few days.
I can't wait to get back to regular life at home. Friends, Skateboards, and proper food.

Taking photos is not something I really have any interest in. A lot of people might think this is strange considering My involvement in doing just that. I do however have a strong connection to the places and faces I have gotten to see because of the crazy world that is professional photography.
The thing that gets me about the photos that I have been involved in (and just the ones that I enjoy looking at) is that a photo is just quite and still. You can't see or hear all the crazy things that are going on around the camera at the time. You can't feel the sickness in the photographers stomach from jet lag and shitty food. You don't feel the back pain from sleeping on the ground. It's just a calm, still image, there for the taking.
I like this. It's such a nice feeling to look up at a picture I was there for and remember all the hard work and home sickness that went into it. I hope I can keep enjoying this feeling for years to come.

On a side note...It's totally fucked how much money people can make from this.

Without My Skateboard I find my Body and Mind slowly creeping into that dark place it (More often than I would like) goes. Winter is a tough time for this.
Lately I have been finding Myself back in the gym, almost daily. This is the best way for me to stay sane. I feel it is on the same level as Skating is for me. There is no team mates. No Ref. No one but Yourself. Either You can, or You can not. Sink or Swim, That's it.
I live for that feeling of rolling away from a new trick, and watching the iron come off the floor that once seemed impossible is the next best thing. So here is to Me doing My best to Keep My Sanity over the next few months. Go Hard or Go Home.

Lately it seems like I have been spending more time here in New York then at home. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with this. If I had no commitments in Canada I would do what I could to try and move here for a year or two. It's funny to think that I have a New York metro pass, gym membership, and up coming tattoo appointments.

It's 12am and I am currently typing this from Brooklyn NY. I'm inside of a strange ware house building in a semi industrial section of town. The upper floor is full of Graffiti and huge lofts where tons of punk kids live.
Today has been a stellar day. I set up for an art show which I have a pretty big part in. I saw some new sides to New York. And even two punk houses with wicked shows going on in them.
Blacklisted is about to play. Mother Mercy was sick. I am happy.

Lately I have realized that I have really been following the politics and the "Who's Who" in Skateboarding. As entertaining as it is it kinda bummed me out. I find that re watching some of my old VHS skate videos that are scattered in boxes around my parents house brings me back to what is important, Which to me is raw skateboarding. Shitty quality videos where if a few tricks might have been repeated by a few people in the same video but it didn't matter because everyone just did the hardest shit they could regardless of the "it's been done factor" That's my word, You shouldn't care though...

My grandfather died a year ago today. I still find myself talking about him almost daily to my friends and family. He really shaped me as a person and continues to inspire me in most aspects of my life. But if you have to go, He did it in the best way possible.

On another bummer note...

"A 16-year-old boy died after being flung from his skateboard while riding down a steep hill in South San Francisco, police said Thursday.

The boy, identified by the San Mateo County Coroner's office as John Pagobo of South San Francisco, died on Monday, one day after the accident.

John was riding his skateboard at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday down a steep hill near Joseph and Ida drives when he lost control and hit a curb. He was thrown about 15 feet, according to South San Francisco police. He landed in some shrubs and was able to call his family for help.

They rushed him to a hospital where he died the next day of serious internal injuries"

Today was pretty fun. I got up early and took care of some painting and other little things I had to do around the house. I was glad to get it done early so when Brad and Woody got here we just got straight to hangin out. We decided against going to the skatepark as it looked like rain was coming and just decided to put a new addition onto my ramp. Schetchy as fuck, Fun as hell.

More Road Trips

although it will cut into my everyday "doing sweet stuff" it will ultimitaly end up in me being able to aford to do the big things I want to do. Go on more trips, buy a motorcycle, go on skate trips. I feel like I could be working towards so much more right now. I'm doing awesome things almost daily, but I feel like I need more. There is only so much time you can spend without a job and with out money before it starts to get to you.

The last week of my life has been awesome. Things are starting to fall into place for me more and more. I'm stoked on it. I'm going to invest in some new stuff for screen printing this week. Lately I have stopped caring about my debt and the other little things that bother me. Fuck it, Shit will work out. I'm not worried about it. Today I skated Legacy. The weather was awesome and it felt wicked to skate an out door park again. I'm stoked on summer getting closer and closer. Almost time for Falls jumping, No-shirt marathons, and lots of Skating.

Today was a pretty productive day. I woke up early and started on painting the guest bed room. I plan on building my dog a sweet dog house this week so I shovelled all the snow out of his pen. Then I did an oil change on the car and the truck. I need to stay on this. Seeing as I don't have a job I really need to stay as busy as possible and still put in abit of a "Work Day" before I start to go crazy.

Also, Joey was on the hour a few weeks ago. There was photo's of Him and I in the back ground. It was pretty funny. I'm going to mail him a care package tomorrow.

Early Starts

Started the day off at about 9:30am with these full pipes we spotted at the side of the road. It was too cold to do much though.

Our next stop was a screen printing shop in Toronto where We picked up some new ink. Followed by a session at the hoof. Always a good time, no matter what time of year.
Tomorrow is Jesse's Birthday party. Stoked.
